The Push offers a range of contemporary music industry training workshops. Our workshops support the needs of young people at every stage of their music industry journey.
Our workshops have been designed to be interactive and engaging for people of all-ages, backgrounds and career levels.
These workshops will help you — a community organisation, school, workplace or government agency — support the young people you work with.
Our experienced music industry Workshop Facilitators are available throughout the year and provide training across a range of subjects and themes.

Becoming a Bedroom Producer
Skill level: Introduction
This workshop is an introductory production session that focues on how to begin the music making process at home. This includes understanding simple audio setups, Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and basic mixing concepts.
Songwriting
Skill level: Intermediate
This workshop will focus on the songwriting component of the music making process. Participants will have a greater understanding of lyric writing, song structure, creative thinking and collaboration.
Performing
Skill level: Intermediate
This workshop will focus on the performance aspect of music making. Participants will have a greater understanding of stage presence, communication, preparation, planning and business skills.
DJ Workshops
Skill level: Introduction
This workshop focuses on the introductory skills that are required when learning to DJ. Participants will learn the history of DJing, understanding the anatomy of decks and learning how to use DJ equipment.

An Introduction to Event Management
Skill level: Introduction
This workshop will focus on introductory concepts for Event Management. Participants will learn key skills to understanding what makes safe and accessible events, event phases and event roles.
Practical Tools for Event Management
Skill level: Intermediate
This workshop will focus on intermediate concepts for Event Management. Participants will have a greater understanding of the technical skills required to deliver a successful event. This includes event and financial management.

Music Industry Careers
Skill level: Introduction
This workshop will introduce the music industry and how to build a sustainable career, with focus on key roles and skills. Participants will have a greater understanding of the ecosystem of the contemporary music industry and the different ways to enter and maintain a career.
+ Music Business
Build your Music Industry Toolkit
Skill level: Introduction
This workshop will introduce the soft skills and knowledge required to kick start a career in the music industry. Participants will learn about different income streams, understanding contracts and business elements to set up their music industry toolkit.
Releasing your Music
Skill level:Intermediate
Take your first steps into electronic music production in this workshop which explores the Ableton interface, the key elements of building a beat and how to get the most out of your track.
+ Music Marketing
Marketing, Branding and Promotion
Skill level: Introduction
This workshop covers music marketing with a particular focus on artist branding and promotion. Participants will focus on defining the identity of their project, developing their personal brand as well as introducing key marketing ideas.
Social Media, Tik Tok and Reels
Skill level: Intermediate
This workshop specialises in music marketing, with a particular focus on the use of social media short video formats, such as Tik Tok and Reels. Participants will learn how to apply marketing and promotion techniques to create content for social media.
