Position Overview
The Push is seeking a highly motivated young person to support the delivery of bold, youth-led communications across our programs, campaigns and national activity. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on producing high-quality content, meeting deadlines, and ensuring communications are executed effectively across multiple platforms.
This role is a key driver of day-to-day communications activity, executing content creation (short-form video and carousel designs), website management, development of EDMs, and the promotion of events, programs and opportunities nationwide. You will play a central role in bringing The Push’s work to life during multiple high-profile moments, ensuring communications are timely, engaging, reflects The Push’s tone of voice and brand and are aligned with our youth-led identity and national visibility goals.
Our ideal candidate is proactive, organised and energetic. You take initiative and are motivated by a dynamic environment with competing priorities. You may be early in your career, but you are eager to build skills, test ideas and contribute meaningfully. Previous experience in marketing or communications is welcome but not essential. Above all, you bring a strong interest in Australian music and a genuine commitment to improving access and opportunities for young people across Australia.
This position is a dedicated Youth Lead role, with the opportunity open to people under 26 years of age, as supported under the Victorian Equal Opportunity Act 2010, Section 12 (Special Measures).

Position Description
Guided by The Push Strategy, brand and 2026 Content Strategy & Messaging Framework, and with support from the Head of Programs, the Youth Lead, Content & Communications will:
Content Creation and Digital Delivery
Assist with designing simple digital assets and editing short-form video content for social platforms
Support the creation of digital content across social media, EDMs, website and partner channels
Draft copy in line with The Push’s tone of voice and youth-led identity
Update website content, including event and ticketing pages
Assist with the build, testing and monitoring of ticketing websites to ensure information is accurate and accessible
Support the development of key communications assets for major campaigns and announcements
Campaign Communications
Support the delivery of communications for key campaigns and programs
Assist with creating copy and assets as well as drafting social posts, EDMs and supporter communications aligned with campaign objectives
Create visuals and short-form digital content to support campaign activity
Support the development of spotlight content featuring participants and alumni
Coordinate content scheduling across channels in line with campaign timelines
Assist with preparing campaign assets in line with strategic direction and approval processes
Assist with coordinating digital rollouts with partners, artists and participants
Community Management and Audience Engagement
Lead day-to-day management of The Push’s social channels, including scheduling posts, responding to comments and DMs and monitoring community sentiment
Support growth of online communities and brand visibility
Engage with young people, artists, mentors, partners and stakeholders using a consistent, youth-centred tone, with guidance where required
Coordination and Workflow Delivery
Work closely with the CEO as well as external consultants to deliver materials and content on time and to brief
Assist with maintaining content calendars and checking scheduling accuracy
Support preparation of internal updates, reports and communications documentation
Assist with photo and video capture at selected events, as required
Overall
Attend out-of-hours meetings and events, as well as undertake regular interstate travel, as required throughout the year
Other duties, as directed by the Head of Programs
Key Selection Criteria
Qualifications, Experience and Licenses
1. Understanding and demonstrated experience in marketing and communications practices, social media and trends, with particular focus on young audiences.
2. Ability to write clear, engaging copy that can be adapted for different audiences and platforms, with an understanding of tone of voice and brand consistency, or a strong willingness to learn with guidance.
3. Demonstrated skills in digital content creation using design and video editing tools (Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro) or Canva, CapCut Desktop etc).
4. Ability to take initiative and follow tasks through to completion, including managing time, meeting deadlines and handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
5. A positive, adaptable approach to work, with a willingness to give things a go, test ideas, respond to feedback and continuously build skills through hands-on experience.
6. An interest in Australian music and youth culture, and a genuine commitment to improving access, opportunities and outcomes for young people across Australia.
7. Highly valued but not essential is a willingness to appear in piece-to-camera short-form content for The Push socials.

The selected candidate will need to successfully complete or possess a current:
Relevant tertiary qualification and/or practical experience in communications or marketing
Demonstrated content creation experience
Working with Children Check
Victoria Police Background Check
Full Australian Driver’s License
