Work Placements and Internships

 

The Push is currently not accepting any work placements or internships. We have a range of opportunities for young people to get involved in our programs throughout the year, so make sure to sign up to our newsletter and keep a look out on our socials for more updates. We also have a news page for the latest info and articles from The Push.

Current Vacancies

Position Board Member
Status Volunteer, approximately ten hours spread out monthly
Engagement Period Board Member positions are held by the young person until the AGM following their 26th birthday.
Experience No experience is required but study or qualifications in Accounting, Law, Human Resources, Governance or other relevant experience is preferable.
 
 

Expressions of Interest

 

The Push is seeking expressions of interest for two (2) vacancies we currently have for young people (aged under 25 years) to join our volunteer Board of Directors. No experience is required but active contribution is essential. Training and mentoring will be provided for incoming members.

We are committed to having a Board of Directors that is representative of the community we serve. As a youth organisation, we are working towards 50% of our Board of Directors positions held by young people by 2026. We encourage applications from young people across Australia, including First Nations young people, young people of colour, young people from low-income households, young people living in regional and rural Australia, young people with a disability, and people who identify as LGBTIQA+.

The Push is an Australian youth music organisation and registered charity based in Melbourne. Over three decades we have supported millions of young people with access to contemporary music programs and events.

Our Board of Directors

The Push is governed by our volunteer Board of Directors. Positions on our board are determined by a skills-based approach – ensuring we have the expertise and experience to set organisational strategy and ensure effective implementation – shaping The Push’s capacity for impact and future growth.

Our Board of Directors is made up of a minimum of 8 members at any time and is committed to achieving 50% youth representation (aged 18 – 25 years) by 2026.

As a member of The Push’s Board of Directors, we expect you will:

  • Have a passion for fostering a dynamic and connected youth music community across Australia

  • Contribute expertise and participate in strategic development across the organisation, aligned with our purpose and values

  • Ask questions, take responsibility, and follow through with your roles and responsibilities

  • Uphold and inform The Push’s constitution, Statement of Purpose, and alignment with the organisation’s strategy

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the organisation’s programs, core functions, stakeholders and constituents

  • Act as a representative of The Push through participation at special events and major functions. As a youth music organisation delivering all-ages events, Board Member visibility at these events is required throughout the year

  • Consistently attend quarterly meetings, as well as additional strategic and committee meetings and our AGM (meetings take place in Melbourne and online)

  • Commit approximately 10 hours of your time per month, allowing for timely offline engagement

  • Serve on and actively participate in at least one sub-committee

  • Prepare for meetings in advance by reading and considering all materials including financial statements in advance. Major issues should be brought to the Chairperson’s attention prior to the meeting

  • Serve until the AGM following your 26th birthday

  • At all times maintain the confidentiality of board business, including not sharing such information with non-board members and media (including social media)

  • Disclose any potential conflict of interest with The Push

The Push provides travel and accommodation for all non-Victorian based board members to attend in-person meetings.
