Looking back on triple j’s One Night Stand in Busselton
From bump-in to broadcast, young people from the Busselton region worked alongside triple j crew to deliver sell-out festival in Western Australia.
A crowd of 15,000 gathered in Busselton on Saturday 24 May for triple j’s One Night Stand, featuring a massive all-Australian lineup headlined by local favourites Spacey Jane.
Behind the scenes, eight Busselton teens were involved in the event through The Push’s All-Ages Events Team program. The Push was selected as one of triple j’s four charity partners for this year’s One Night Stand, creating a rare opportunity for young people in regional WA to get industry experience at a major national festival. In the lead-up, they completed a two-month training program that offered hands-on experience in event planning, stage management, technical and audio production, promotions and marketing, video production, photography, artist liaison and bookings.
The initiative was made possible through support from the Western Australian Government and is a key part of The Push’s purpose to give every young person the opportunity to participate and thrive in Australian music. Before gates opened to ticket holders, The Push’s All Ages Event Team had the chance to meet and chat with Hon. Simone McGurk, Minister for Creative Industries.
“Providing crucial firsthand work experience will support those involved to build sustainable careers across the contemporary music sector.

This program is more than just a One Night Stand. Later this year, the same group of young people will put their skills to the test by producing their own fully funded all-ages event in Busselton, thanks to support from the Western Australian Government.
This year’s One Night Stand, featuring performances from local legends Spacey Jane, LUUDE, Ruby Fields, 3%, Blusher, Velvet Trip, and Fool Nelson—the winner of the Unearthed competition—drew a sold-out crowd of 15,000 live music fans. More than just a massive concert, it showcased the value of giving young people real opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow within the music industry.
“Working with The Push has given me a new insight into the live music industry and everything that goes on around it! They have supported me through that process and given me the opportunity to try something new. It has been the most amazing experience, and I couldn’t have had more fun.
I would recommend applying to participate in The Push program to any young person who has a burning passion for live music and is keen to learn!”

Why do all-ages gigs actually matter? Georgie and Elle have some thoughts.
They helped run triple j’s One Night Stand in Busselton with The Push’s All-Ages Events Team, and Robert from The Push wanted to dive into what the experience meant to them.
