The Push is excited to announce the first artist signings of our Push Records label roster.

Structured as a six-month learning program, Push Records focuses on mentoring, training and developing 30 young people aged 16 - 25 to lead the planning, development and execution of a release campaign tailored to five young and emerging artists.

The Push team have been working in partnership with the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) to deliver this pilot program as part of Creative Victoria’s Victorian Music Industry Recovery program - a Victorian Government Initiative.

Private Mountain

Private Mountain are made up of ‘five monosyllabic friends’ (in their own words), and have already begun crafting the remote dreamscape of their collective inner world. Existing somewhere between Ball Park Music and Slowdive, listeners can expect future releases to continue to be as intricately detailed as they are transcendent and self-assured.

Madi Leeds

Pairing introspective lyrics with layered sonic textures, indie-pop champion Madi Leeds offers a compelling take on music.

Benjamin Trillado

Mentored by the likes of Ella Hooper (Killing Heidi), Ainslie Wills and performing with Ben Abraham, Benjamin Trillado with his guitar and his heart-wrenching lyrics have left audiences speechless. Becoming a well-known Melbourne musician and performer, and having over half a million streams on Spotify, Benjamin is fast becoming one of the newest up and coming artists to keep an eye on.

Espresso Depresso

Aptly named for their crippling coffee addiction and heavy heart, Espresso Depresso emerges from small town Yackandandah into the Aussie music scene with new track Self Control. From folk roots to funky pop, this track will leave you in maximalist bliss that will last till summer.

JIM

Recent winner of the Fed Live 2020 competition, JIM, aka Jessie Hillel, brings a fresh take on the pop and R&B sound of Melbourne. From her debut single ‘good grades’, JIM’s mellifluous vocals are blended with her classical music roots into a new project that is filled with passion, heart and soul, with driving beats that never abandons vulnerability.

Each of these talented performers will release a track through Push Records later this year, thanks to the help of the 30 young industry tastemakers from the Push Records label team.

You’ll be hearing lots more from these five over the next few months, so keep your eyes on our social media @thepushinc to be the first to know more!
