Two people work on audio production, using headphones and a sound mixer, in a modern studio with speakers and a screen.

Becoming a Bedroom Producer (Introduction)

This workshop is an introductory production session that focuses on how to begin the music making process at home.

Becoming a Bedroom Producer (Introduction) is a hands on, beginner friendly workshop designed for music makers with little or no production experience. Across two hours, participants will be introduced to the essential tools, terminology and techniques to start creating music from home.

The workshop explores the role of the modern music producer, different career paths in production and how creativity can thrive in any space – from a bedroom studio to a professional setting. Participants will learn about production equipment, use and set up a ‘Bedroom Production Backpack’ and explore Digital Audio Workstations. Upon completion of the session, participants will have a foundational understanding of audio, MIDI, sampling, beat making and basic mixing techniques.

I am so grateful for the new skills I've learn through attending The Push's training workshops!! The guidance and support from the workshop facilitators were incredible, and I've met so many likeminded music lovers. I'm hoping to pursue a career in music - and these sessions have opened a world of creativity for me!

The Push have been brilliant to work with! We were so impressed with how the facilitator was able to engage the young people, match their energy and meet the needs of everyone who joined. Making this information accessible and relatable is so important and it was incredible to see the lightbulbs go off and the excitement grow.

Facilitating workshops with The Push has been such a highlight for me in my career. I always love getting to connect with young people face-to-face and seeing them engage with the music industry in a real and practical way. It’s really rewarding being able to share experiences and insights, and watching those little moments where something clicks or sparks their passion. For some young it’s also their first time hearing directly from someone working in the industry, which can show that a music industry career is a real, viable and possible pathway.
