First Push FReeZA Summit a hit!

FReeZA Committees headed into Wang and Geelong from across the country-side to check out everything that was happening for the first Push FReeZA Summits of 2007.

Committee members learnt the tricks and secrets to make their gigs successful; met heaps of other FReeZA committee members from across the state and got the opportunity to say, discuss, yell, write and scream everything they think and want to know about FReeZA.

Session presenters included the famous and loved Jaddan Comerford, creator of Boomtown Records, who spoke on his signing of BCE and The Getaway Plan, and filled in committee members on how FReeZA committees can work with labels to develop artists.

Also on the agenda was Gerard Pidito, master-mind behind the success of all-ages venue TLC Bayswater, Wildflower music and Fist-to-Face. Gerard gave his insight into dealing with booking agents.

After seeing their exclusive live acoustic set, committee members got to speak with Trial Kennedy's Tim and Stacey on the importance of all ages shows, and gained advice on event promo, venue booking and production; and also how to work with artists to ensure a smooth and successful event.

The Brunswick summit the week after saw The Trading Post Agency's Tom Taaffe outline his role as a booking agent, representing artists such as The Butterfly Effect and Gyroscope.

All FReeZA Workers and FReeZA Committees from across the state are encouraged to come along to one of these training days. These official training sessions are free. Representatives from the Office for Youth and The Push – FReeZA Support Service will be in attendance to provide FReeZA Program information and advice.

A free light luncheon will be provided plus special guest lunchtime performer, Jen Cloher.

This is a terrific opportunity for young people and workers to improve their knowledge of event management issues as well as participate in some “hands on” workshops, network with other committees and hear first hand from music industry experts.
